The vertical post is made from 3 timbers. The side beams are laid onto the shorter middle timber, fully supported by the outer larger timbers.
The angled rafter is slotted through the two outer timbers, so that the entire weight of the roof and tiles are pressing down on both the pillar and the cross beams.
