I always kind of thought a houseboat would be nice. My aunt had one for a few years, she said the only drawback is things
are a little damp a lot of the time. But you get that here on the ocean too.

Dave, this particular spot is a Public Drawdock.
The owner can moor for a short time free.
Moorings along the Tidal River Thames are very scarce and very expensive.
The same on the upper non tidal Thames.
There are lots of Marinas on the upper Thames, also very expensive.
I would love to own a boat and use it on the Thames.
The cost is way above my means, so it is look only for me.

Does the owner of such a boat have to pay a fee to moor it at the river bank? Who gets the fee?
