Sorry, edit... No doubt you meant the right side of the same windward slope and not the other side of hill. My mistake

Indeed, there shouldn't be anything but sailplanes and gliders. I'm surprised that they can use both sides of this slope as usually, windward side has lift and leeward side has downdrafts.
Perhaps Devils Dyke has wind from several directions, I'll have a look on Google Earth to see the lay of the land.

There is a group of people flying their RC planes there. they use the right side of the hill away from the hang gliders.
They only use gliders, maybe engines are banned in case they bring down a hang glider

Looks like a fun day out John, Am I likely to see you up a hill in Wales then soon, 29th and 30th Oct for me if you can make it:-) . It must take a lot of nerve to strap yourself in a kite and jump off a cliff/ hill top; not for me I'm afraid. Literally.
