Dear Chris,
Thank you for your comment on my Planiplax photo. There is no English name that I know of. And I would like to caution you on the ID. The dragonfly on the photo is similar to P. erythropyga, but as I didn't collect any specimens I cannot be certain. There is always the possibility of an undescribed species. My observation is outside the known range for this genus (according to Garrison, Von Ellenrieder and Louton). The same probably applies to your observation.
I am very interested in any photos you have of dragonflies from Brazil. Do you know the website neotropic-dragonfly.org. It would be great if you could upload any photos you have to it.
Best wishes,
Johan

Hi Johan - I took what looks to be an identical sp. at Praia do Forte, Bahia, Brazil on 7 5 06 and have been unable to id it till now! So many thanks. Are you aware of an English name for P. erythropyga?
