50 / 1.2L Test Pics

A lot of talk has been made about the focus shift issue. It is real. When focusing close, the lens will backfocus when stopped down. However, when using an off-center AF point, this does not happen. To demonstrate this, the last set of pics in this gallery are a set of four 100% crops taken from about two feet away, at f / 1.2, f / 2, f / 2.8, and again at f / 2.8, using the upper right AF point and then recomposing. In all cases, the AF point is the "21g".

Is this an issue? Of course. Is it serious? Not to me. Hopefully, Canon will come out with a firmware fix to address the problem. However, it is not a big deal to me (or so I think at this time). But it may be a deal killer for others.
