Canon EF-S 10-22 / 3.5-4.5 on a 5D

These images were taken with the Canon EF-S 10-22 / 3.5-4.5 on a 5D. They were not taken by me, but sent to me so that I could host them. Below is the text of the email Scott sent me so that you can all have some extra info. My opinion? I wish the pics had been taken between f/8 and f/11 for the types of pics that were taken. Something more closely framed would have been "more appropriate" for the wider apertures these pics were taken at. The reason I say this is that the pics in my 24 / 1.4L test pics gallery at night and day different from these, but they are at f/8. I know it's not "fair" to compare the 24 / 1.4L to the 10-22 / 3.5-4.5, but by f/8, and certainly by f/11, the 10-22 would have been at its best on a 5D. In addition, there is something odd agbout these pics. In the first one, the cherry blossoms in the middle to near the middle top seem relatively sharp, but the rest of the frame is quite soft. In the other pic, the flowers in the bottom center seem to be the focal point. Anyway, something seems very odd here.

Regardless, many thanks Scott for the pics, and, for the rest of you, enjoy!.

"Joe, these samples happened to be at the ends of the zoom range - 12mm and 22mm, aperture mostly at f/4.5-5.6.. EXIF should be intact. RAW files converted in DPP with minor exposure compensation (usually .5 stop), contrast at -4, landscape portrait style. The photos were taken handheld, on a walk to view the cherry trees around the downtown core of Vancouver BC, on Saturday afternoon. please post them (or a couple of them) to the thread so others can see them, if you are so inclined. the files were saved at level 3 quality in DPP (not sure how that actually relates to the JPEG compression rating - I believe it is about a 9 or 10 on the JPEG scale). I will also dig up a shot of the rear plate I fabricated if you like."
