Our recent trip to Sicily surpassed all my expectations. I never knew how spectacular the countryside was nor how friendly the people. One secret we discovered early was to eschew the tourist restaurants and seek out the small town family run ristorante. While the main resort towns we visited - Taormina, Trapani, Erice were extremely beautiful and interesting, the interior hillside towns and mountainsides caught our breaths- CastleLaMola, Cacomo, Mezzoiuso, Castlelamare del Golfo and more.

Most memorable was Mt. Etna, Castle LaMola, my ancestral home town of Mezzoiuso, and the family we stayed with in Castlelamare del Golfo.
