Providence Canyon State Park; Stewart Co., GA. The canyon is a series of erosional gullies formed due to poor farming practices in the 1800s and is not a natural feature. An iron rich red clay cap tops easily-eroded white kaolinite-containing sands beneath, with the boundary between the two corresponding approximately to the time of the Cretaceous extinction event.
