I hadn't seen Harlequin Ducks for a couple of years despite being so close to a fantastic hub for them at Cape Ann, so I took a trip to Cathedral Ledge in the hope of seeing them and maybe getting some distant photos. The birds were cooperative, feeding and participating in courtship behavior reasonably close to my station as the tide rose. While in the area, I decided to explore Halibut Point State Park. The Harlequins were few and far between near the main overlook, but more than 40 were very close in along the Bayside trail shoreline there for even better photos.
