I was the first person to walk the trail at Sandy Ridge Reservation on this September morning, and upon exiting the woods I found this Bald Eagle soaking in the early morning sun. The eagle seemed preoccupied with preening, and although I have no doubt it knew I was there taking photos of it, it simply didn't care. A few other walkers and joggers came up to view it and kindly took the loop in the opposite direction so as not to scare it. The eagle stayed for over half an hour until the first folks made it all the way around the marsh.
