Pbase What is high quality hospice care if it wsa your mother.jpg

This is one of my favorite pictures of Java and my Mom. Every year, I would take Java dressed up to visit the residents in the nursing home where my Mom lived. My Mom died in October. It has been a year of ups and downs. On Friday, I am receiving an award for my research on measuring the quality of hospice care. So my talk is entitled, "What is High Quality Hospice Care if it was Your Mother?" I don't know if you ever achieve true closure -- but giving this talk is one step along this path.

My Dad, nursed my mother through 15 yrs of alzheimer disease, only in her last 3 months of life he finally agreed to her going into palliative care but he never left her side 24 hours a day...her care was vital.

I do not think there is such a thing as closure. My mother has been gone for 24 years and my father for 32 years and there is nothing closed.
I, too, like this photo. Bless you. You have done a lot for the patients in Nursing Homes through your work.
