Grey Dagger Moth Caterpillar

Latin name: Acronicta psi
Size: Has a wingspan of approximately 40mms.
Distribution: Common in England, Northern Ireland and Wales. Less frequently seen in Scotland.
Months seen: June to September.
Habitat: Hedgerows, parks and gardens.
Food: Nectar. The caterpillars feed on many types of tree and shrub.
Special features: The grey dagger is another of our noctuid moths. It gets its name from the black dagger-like markings on its grey wings.
