Red Poppy - 13th July 2004 - PaD

I've been driving around for a couple of weeks and have seen lots of these red poppies by the road side and they look so pretty. Today I decided that I would catch one ... and here it is.

Yes it is a bug they were everywhere they were dark in colour and had a hard shell which concealed a pair of tiny wings.

Hi laine82 I looked it up in my Collins Wild Flowers book and there are two candidates the Long-headed poppy and the Common poppy. From the description of the hairs on the stem I would say it is the Common poppy. If anyone knows better I'd love to know.

Love that crepe look of a Poppy. These sound like Flanders...are they ?
