Branta canadensis 97 cm 38in. Largest European goose. Introduced from North America to parks. Escaped birds now breed in Britain and Sweden, and may straggle to western Europe for the winter. Wild birds nest on islands in lakes and graze in marshes and fields by lakes and rivers. What to look for: Long black neck, black head with white throat, light breast.
