In late August, 2014 we spent a bit over a week in SD. We were lucky that it was not too hot and not too crowded at that time of year. We spent 5 days in the Custer area where we saw lots of wildlife and great scenery. Then we went to the Badlands for 3 days where we saw more wildlife and very different mountain ranges.
