Pileated woodpeckers

Pileated woodpeckers are large crow sized birds with a red crest on their head. They favor mature deciduous forests but have adapted to second growth forests as well. Pileated woodpeckers eat carpenter ants and larvae of wood boring beetles. I really like these birds and feel lucky to have them around.
