Getting one or two chips in your windscreen/left side fenders is probably inevitable on the Dempster. Pulling over and giving approaching traffic lots of room is certainly the safest.But it's a judgement call. Lots of room will tempt them to go by at relatively high speed. Holding the middle ground until they approach closer slows them down and reduces the rocks flying about. Despite how this photo looks, passing small pickups are the riskiest. They will shower you with gravel passing at high speed.
