My first binocular bought in 1969 for £6 6s from Dixons in Norwich, empire made (probably Hong Kong). I couldn't afford the case which was £1 9 shillings and 6d extra, pocket money wouldn't stretch!
Served me well until I could afford a Coe of Norwich branded 8x40 BWCF generic Japanese binocular.
