House Sparrows

House Sparrows are nowhere near as common as they used to be when I were a lad. New build houses do not have the under eaves spaces present in older houses. I put up this sparrow box under my eaves and it is a delight to hear the chirping of these feisty little birds.

I think the young sparrow is giving thanks for its new home.

pleased to see them getting a good word and even some help, not to mention a fine portrait. We are lucky and have an active flock around the garden
