My gerbils, Obsidian and Ivory, had 7 babies on September 22. I plan to take pictures of them every day and post them here. On the second day, when I checked them after work, there was only one baby in the cage. The parents had moved the rest onto the top level of the cage and they had fallen out! I found them all and returned them, being careful not to touch them with my bare hands. Obsidian took them back with no problems and they seem none the worse for their adventure. I removed the topper from the cage so that it can't happen again.

On October 21 all the males, including Ivory were moved into a separate cage since I don't want Obsidian to get pregnant again after her second litter is born.

On October 26 the second litter was born. Obsidian had 8 pups this time. From now on I plan to take weekly pictures instead of daily ones.
