My Perspective of Christo and Jeanne-Claude's "The Gates" in Central Park

'The Gates' through my eyes. I tried not to focus on just the gates. I looked at the park and wanted to look at the park and how the gates were now part of it's incredible landscape. The park is such a beautiful place and to just look at the gates would be a mistake. I have incorporated photos of the gates themselves but tried to capture the geometry of them and different views of light and light reflecting through them. Please enjoy my gallery. Your last picture is a scream, Jonathan (and it makes a 'contemporary statement', if it's viewed as a hamburger wrapper, hanging from a bent-to-shape tree twig: the diety we look to, hanging in the breeze). These 7500 goalposts of metal and orange tarps, bright simple distractions (sounds like items, baubles, hanging in a baby carriage to amuse and be gawked at?), pricey park-litter, proves to the art world beyond a shadow of a doubt their rich creators are base, vacuous individuals of no art ability, have a creepy need to be in the news (and obviously it doesn't matter "how") and have lots and lots of money. I'd rather hear about on msn.com something like "Cristo's new $20,000,000 school milk program in Harlem and Queens, "catscan machines by Cristo, coming to a childrens' hospital near you"; because if you're rich and can't create art, why not try philanthropy? (Makes for far more attractive, unlittered parks, too.)

Mr. Lefcourt: I sometimes think of myself as a photographer but when I see these photographs it makes me want to get down off my horse and walk. They are stupendous. A terrific gallery. the park is so filled with cliche that it's difficult to see beyond it and you've done a wonderful job.
