I took a three day trip on a ferry through the fjords of southern Chile from Puerto Montt to Puerto Natales. The ferry is primarily a cargo ship but has been modified to accommodate about 100 passengers. It’s a very fun and interesting trip, with great scenery through the narrow channels. The best part is that the crew pretty much allows passengers the run of the boat – it’s ok to go up into the bridge, play with the navigational equipment, and even descend into the engine room. We stopped part way through and took a launch to a small island where some of the few remaining natives lived.
