These are two interesting characters with whom I drank a lot of beers and had a lot of good times in both Namibia and Cape Town. Martin is from Czech republic and had ridden his motorbike from there to Cape Town, passing through such welcoming places as Sudan and Ethiopia. He had a ton of great stories to tell and possessed a cynical sense of humor that is a real relief after hanging around too many wide-eyed hippie backpacker types. John is a former lawyer from South Africa, also a hilarious dude. He lost it one day or found God or something and gave up his legal career to ride around Africa for two years on a donkey cart. Now he still travels, allegedly not a penny to his name but supported by a small collection of well-off female lovers around southern Africa.
