Toad Stool Country

These toadstool formations were photographed at a site between Page, AZ and Kanab, UT off Hwy 89 and just west of Cottonwood Canyon Road (a 40 mile bumpy/sandy dirt road which takes you to Kodachrome State Park in Utah); the link below will give you an idea of what sort of scenery to expect while traveling the road. Note, if the link doesn't work just do a copy-and-paste of the URL to your address bar and then click on "GO."

The trail-head parking for toad stools site is between Cottonwood Canyon Road and the BLM station (located "west" of Cottonwood Canyon Road and on the south side of Highway 89). In fact, the parking area is about 3 miles east of the BLM station on the north side of highway 89. Note, you have to be looking pretty carefully to notice the break in the fence where the trail begins. Also note that I'm not talking about the BLM Visitor's Center (located between Page and Cottonwood Canyon Road); ignore the Visitor's Center as it is not part of the instructions on how to get to the Toadstool Formations area.

IMPORTANT, please note ... whenever you visit a Pbase gallery for the first time, or if you have clicked on a size smaller than "original size" while visiting this or any other Pbase gallery, please be sure to click on "original" size, otherwise you will be presented with a low quality JPEG as versus the high quality JPEG (the size doesn't change, only the quality level of the JPEG compression); you only have to do this once, on the very first picture you look at.

Alternatively, on the very first picture you can add "/original" to the URL in the address bar and hit "refresh" or "go" as the case may be; again, you only have to do this once (on the very first picture). This "/original to the URL" approach is the sure-fire/no-mistake/best way to ensure you will see the highest quality JPEG presentation.
