This was the first stadium to host the modern Olympic Games (1896).

The tour of Athens stopped at this location on the way to the Acropolis. The stop took me by surprise because I didn't have any Euros on me and they wouldn't let me pay with USD or a credit card to get inside for a peek. My last visit to Athens was in 2001 and back then you didn't have to pay to walk inside the stadium (times have really changed). So, bottom line, this is the only shot I have and I know ... unfortunately it's not much to look at.

Lesson learned, always carry cash used by the locals even if you don't anticipate the need (sigh).
