Charadrius melodus

Piping Plover at San Carlos Bay: Bunche Beach Preserve
Fort Myers, Florida USA

This particular bird was eye catching to say the least. Somewhat evident in this particular shot, the bird
has been captured a minimum of four times based on its flagging and banding which I consider very interesting.
My thanks to Robert http://www.pbase.com/robertdoiron for the following link . . .
http://www.cws-scf.ec.gc.ca/nwrc-cnrf/default.asp?lang=En&n=CA9EA2C5-1&offset=3&toc=show
which assists in clarifying the subject of banding of birds. Based on what can be learned from the latter link,
this particular plover has been observed in Chile, Mexico, Venezuela, Suriname, and of course the United States
(no representative band, but observed in this shot). This plover also has a metal band placed on the upper
right leg which remains a mystery without closer observation of it.
