Black Shouldered Kite (BSK) Gallery

A beautiful and elegant raptor found in rural parts of Singapore and South East Asia. The most distintive part of the bird is the red eyes for the adult.

Their food sources are rats, lizards and insects. They usually likes to perch on high branch while defending their nest nearby against crows and other eagles.

They are able to hover mid air before diving down to catch their preys.

Hi James. Love your kite photos. I found a family of at least 13 living behind the building where I work. When I tried to approach them they flew almost immediately. Maybe someday when I have that ultra-telephoto...
