Scottish Event Campus

Wildlife at the SECC

The Scottish Event Campus is probably the last place you would expect to see a good variety of wildlife. If you do have a look around you may be in for a surprise, a remarkable range of species have occured at the site over the years. It's location on the banks of the River Clyde make it an obvious fly way for waterbirds and the Clydeside shrub beds attract passerines (perching birds), If you are ever in the area I would recommend a look around. While you are there look up at the Finnieston Crane and you may see one of the Peregrines which regularly perch on it through the winter.
Spring and autumn are the best times for seeing a good variety of birds in a day due to migrating birds passing through. It can be a bit hit and miss, one day the site could be alive with birds and the next it could appear lifeless but it is always worth checking.
