Jan. 4, 2013

So if we’re being honest here, another reason I have become frustrated with photography is that my Mac is running S-L-O-W as of late. It’s seriously a chore to open a file and edit it because of the time it takes. The other day I get a message pop up that says that Firefox’s security measures are no longer supported by my system. “Hmmmm........” I think. “This doesn’t sound good, I better upgrade.”

I go to try and upgrade and find that my system is so old I CAN’T upgrade to the most recent version. No worries. I’ll just upgrade to the next version up from mine, which I figure out is “Leopard” and then go from there. Um......no. Apparently “Snow Leopard”, while something to behold in it’s day, has to be ordered and mailed to you because nobody in their right mind would want that ancient piece of crap. For the love of.....

I order it and it comes today. Thank God. I’ll be back in business in no time. Um.....no. If you notice the box says 10.6.3 Yeah, the most current version of Snow Leopard is 10.6.8 so after it’s installed, I have 30 more minutes of downloading updates. Finally, done. Now I can just get Mountain Lion and be done. Um......no.

After clearing A LOT of memory I am finally able to start downloading Mountain Lion, no doubt only to have to download more updates.

How did this happen? How did I not update for like three or four years? I am usually on top of this stuff.

So this is it. My night. More importantly, here is my picture. Will this win awards and accolades? Nope. Does anyone want to buy this picture? Nope. But it IS my life, and that’s what this PaD is about for me.

I suppose I should be a little disappointed in the picture though. I am capable of so much better. You think I’m disappointed?

Um.......no.

Well chosen words on the relentless march of technology, which ensures a certain level of inbuilt obsolescence to force us to open our wallets even wider...

Your photo tells the story of your day. It's perfect and reminds me of my recent frustrations with my "Mr. Bill" laptop.

there is nothing wrong with photos that tell about our lives. they are not something you'd frame or sell but they are a reflection of what's going on and somehow that makes them special and FUN to share. my pbase site is full of such things. tonight was the light fixture from the restaurant.
