New year, New Rules
One of the inherent problems with a Photo a Day is life. Sometimes life gets in the way and before you know it, it is midnight and you have no picture. The voice of experience tells me that when that happens it is very easy to get down on your self and then it becomes easy to abandon the whole project.
Doing a photo-a-day project is supposed to be fun. It is not supposed to add stress to your, no doubt, already stressful life. Because of that, and my New Year resolution of simplifying my life, I have amended the rules a bit. I will still post a photo a day. What I won’t do, however, is be consumed with it. I will try my best to take a picture each day but when those days present themselves where that doesn’t happen I will fall back on my PaD reserve. I have pictures taken over the last year that I love and I will have no problem using them on the tough days.
Today was one of those days. Nothing major happened, just life. It was about 11pm when I realized I didn’t have a photo. I could have stressed and forced one of some meaningless item from my house or I could have just shrugged my shoulders and said, “Eh....always tomorrow.” I chose for “Always tomorrow” and didn’t spend another minute thinking about it.
Now instead of a meaningless photo, you get one that actually means something to me. This was taken just as a storm cleared. Hailey was at the door yelling that the biggest rainbow she has ever seen was in front of our house. I came to look, thinking that she was exaggerating a bit. What I saw amazed me. Luckily I had the equipment nearby to capture the whole thing in all it’s glory. All I have done was simple editing, all which would have been done in a dark room. The colors you see are as they appeared.
So here it is, January 5th. It could have been a pickle, but instead it’s a rainbow. If you don’t like that I used an old picture, then go start your own PaD gallery with your own rules.
For me, there’s always tomorrow.
