Yesterday, was one of the most incredible days of my life…….I went to visit an orphanage for boys at Binh Thanh District of Ho Chi Minh City. The orphanage, Trung Tam Bao Tro, Tre Tan Tat Mo Coi Thi Nghe, located at 153 Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street, cares for about 40 boys ages 8 – 15 yrs.

They are all on one floor in one large dorm and are all disabled, unable to use their arms or legs……so all are completely bedridden.

These kids are so beautiful and helpless, and they cannot feed themselves……so the workers give us volunteers a bowl of porridge and a cup of water and we feed each kid, a mouthful at a time. I fed six boys and I smiled and laughed on the outside but I cried on the inside….but didn’t want anyone to see.

Sometimes the boy next to the one I am feeding sees and begins to cry, we can’t get to all of them at once.

I was able to make one little guy laugh and giggle but most just look up at you with such sad helpless eyes…….

After we fed all of them, we played with those that wanted and then helped do the dishes and fold the linens.
