Scientific name: Selasphorus rufus
This is a migratory bird, many traveling around 2,000 miles overland to winter in Mexico. Not too shabby for such a tiny specimen. This one was photographed in Glen Cove feeding on crabapple flower nectar. Possibly a pit stop on the way back north?
