Originally the home of Walter and Lucie Rosen, it is now the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts. Rosen House was built about 1930 in the Mediterranean style and is filled with art treasures from around the world. In 1951 Mr. Rosen died and in 1970, two years after Lucie's death, the house and grounds were opened to the public as a museum. However, even before the Rosens passed away, the estate was the setting for the Caramoor International Music Festival that continues to this day. Musical performances are staged either at the 1700 seat Venetian Theater on the estate grounds or in the Spanish Courtyard or the Music Room of Rosen House.
