"The West Ridge is short and sweet. It is also one of the most dangerous routes in the book (Colorado's Fourteeners, GRoach). Loose rocks abound on the rounded ledges on the upper part of the route, and large parties can turn it into a deadly shooting gallery. I think the "Hourglass" is the most dangerous spot on any standard routes on Colorado's fourteeners. This route is particularly dangerous when crowds arrive on three-day weekends. Climb during the week, wear a helmet, and start early" (Courtesy GRoach, 1999)
