began visiting grand marais in 1962 with my folks. have returned often. it seems the summers are as close to perfect as i can imagine. don't tell too many about this beautiful place-i am selfish and don't want it spoiled. my mother cried when we saw the homes being built on agate beach. i liked h-58 better when it was two track. i understand the pavement was completed after my last visit (4th of july week 2006). that is another disapointing sign of so called progress.
somewhere in the boxes of black and white photos from happier times, is a picture of my brother phil, jim schooley, and i hanging from a fallen tree over ausable falls.
my memories of family, especially on vacation in this magical paradise, are wonderful. thank you for the beautiful pics to remind me where to go for peace, quiet and beautiful days ---every day.
