We left Huntingdon with a vague idea of driving towards the Lake District. Because of our meandering ill defined traveling directions we didn’t get to the Lake District but stopped at Skipton
I remembered reading that Windermere was crowed and Keswick was fun so I made reservations for two nights at the Ravensworth B&B Ravensworth House
29 Station Street, Keswick.

Aug 10
We left Skipton the next morning and stopped in Windermere to ensure that our initial opinions were accurate, they were. It was crowded (this was on a Monday morning) AND parking was horrible.
We left Windermere and drove to Rydal Water where we parked and ate a sandwich we’d bought in Windermere. After lunch we walked around part of the Water. The weather was pleasant and we enjoyed the walk. Had a beer at the Traveller’s Rest outside Grassmere. Nice.


We drove and took photos as we slowly drove towards Keswick. I’m kind of a rock circle groupie and wanted to see the Castlerigg Stone Circle above Keswick.


We went there in the late afternoon and it was crawling with tourists. Go figure, inconsiderate louts with their offspring crawling all over the stones. We decided to return the first thing Tuesday morning.


We checked into the Ravensworth B&B and we felt instantly welcomed.
