2008 November - Arizona/Utah Vacation

2008-11-02 through 2008-11-06 Remainder of the images from our Arizona/Utah vacation. This includes:

November 2 -- Grand Canyon on a partly cloudy day. The spotty sunshine did not make for easy photography. It was also very windy, which meant that the view was hazy due to dust in the air. I was a bit disappointed in the results of my photography, but I really enjoyed the view.

November 3 -- Grand Canyon (second visit). The weather was fine, but it was still a bit hazy. This was a much better day for phototography.

November 4 -- Lower Antelope Canyon. This site is very similar to Upper Antelope Canyon (see https://pbase.com/jimfowler/20081104uac ), but is less popular due to the narrowness of the canyon walls and the huge climb out of the canyon at the end.

November 5 -- Grosvenor Arch and Bryce Canyon. Grosvenor Arch is literally out in the middle of nowhere. We had travelled about 30 miles on a slick, muddy, dirt road before we came to the trail that took us 1 mile to the arches. It was a neat visit, though, and worth the trip. Bryce Canyon would have been much nicer if the temperature had not been in the lower 20's (Farenheit), 4 inches of snow, and the wind blowing at about 40-50 miles per hour -- very cold since I had no gloves. Still, we had a great time seeing the hugh landscapes.

November 6 -- Horseshoe Bend, near Page, Arizona. This is a bend in the Little Colorado River a few miles below Glen Canyon Dam. We had quite the view after a 1-mile trek to get there.

November 7 -- Vermilion Cliffs/Paria Canyon - "The Wave". Fantastic sandstone formation. I previouly posted the images on another gallery. See https://pbase.com/jimfowler/20081107thewave
