E-510 Test 2007-12-01

These are some test shots I made late this afternoon (2007-12-01) with my new Olympus E-510 DSLR using a Zuiko 14-54mm Zoom lens (f2.8-f3.5). They were taken in Eva Chandler Heritage Preserve in upstate South Carolina (Greenville County). Since these shots were taken around 4:00 pm, I was afraid that there would not be enough light in the woods, but the camera and lens worked well in those conditions, I think. The late afternoon light was a bit harsh in some cases, but I don't mind the effect.

Almost forgot to mention that I bought a "GorillaPod", which is a new-fangled tripod that will attach to trees, fences, or just about anything you can wrap your hands around. The flexible legs are about twelve inches long, and this particular model has a ball head that's about four inches tall. It will even wrap around your arm if you get tired of carrying it! Very lightweight, as well. I think I'm going to get a great deal of use out of it.
