2007-07-20 Sarracenia purpurea subsp. venosa variety montana in North Carolina

2007-07-20 Day trip to fen location in the western North Carolina mountains. Several of us went to a prime location in western North Carolina for Sarracenia purpurea subspecies venosa variety montana, a rare pitcher plant. The fen was a bit overgrown with grasses and some woody shrubs, but the group that is maintaining the site is doing a fine job, overall. The plants are healthy and thriving in the fen.
