2006-08-12 Orchids (and other stuff) in the Green Swamp, NC
2006-08-12 Trip to the Green Swamp, North Carolina for Orchids and whatever else I could find. Joining me were Frank Galloway (full-time resident of the area), Kelvin Taylor (another NOC member and excellent photographer), and Skip Pudney (another resident of the area and another excellent photographer). This has not been one of the best years for native orchids in the Green Swamp due to spotty rainfall, high summer temperatures, and lack of prescribed burns in the longleaf pine savannahs. However, there were some orchids blooming -- and some of their associated critters...
