2005-11-27 Tipularia discolor in upstate South Carolina
Some photos showing the great variety of Tipularia discolor leaves to be found in the upstate of South Carolina 2005-11-27. Purple Tipularia discolor leaves are unusual, and can be found in about 1% of this population. Spotted leaves are rather common, but I do not know what causes the spots. Neither the spots nor the purple color of the leaves seems to affect the flowers - they all seem to look the same.
