Huahine (April 28-May2)

Huahine is really two islands (Huahine nui and Huahine iti), connected by a bridge. Although the ring road is very well maintained, both islands are strikingly, beautifully undeveloped. We drove, hiked, snorkeled, read and drew here for four days.

It was empty, but open. However, the only cooked item available was steak. Then our waitress's boyfriend/husband came in and stopped her from serving us. He took her into the kitchen and slapped her around a bit. Another waitress appeared and told us that the cook had not shown up. We left.
