This little guy (or girl) must have been in a race and taken refuge during Tuesdays snow. I saw it try to land on my bird feeder, but it missed and Terrer (see the other shots in the gallery http://www.pbase.com/jim_w/pigeon ) just appeared about six feet above the ground and took the poor pigeon out of the air. It only took me seconds to separate them and fortunately there were no signs of fresh blood. However it had been attacked previously as there was quite a bit of dried blood under one wing. I put both cats in the house and let the bird have a peck at the corn and wheat on the floor below the bird feeder even then it just sat on the ground in the yard so I took it into the house, after about half an hour it started to get active so I put some food down for it and when it had filled its crop and had a drink, out of the cat bowl, I released it and watched it do a circle of the house and then head north. It was in the house for about an hour and most of that time I was on the phone, in a queue, to the Royal Pigeon Club or what ever they call themselves, trying to contact the owner, from the number on its leg ring. I eventually gave up and contacted the RSPCA who recommended that I released it.
If you think its yours the ring number is GB 03 N51232 and it was last seen heading north from Huntingdon at about 1430.
