Zeiss-Ikon Contax 1

The Lady next door asked me if I would sell her camera for her on eBay, but when I saw what it was I decided I would send the details to Christies for a valuation and advice, before it was offered for sale. The Lady that owns it got it in Germany in the early 50's when it was a mere 20 years old and she had been using it up until she got an Oly, a few years back. I wonder if my kids will be contacting Christies about my Fuji in 70 years time?

I have now heard back from Christies. I have also taken advice from Henry S.(If you know about Contax cameras you will know that Henry is considered the Number 1 authority). The consensus was that it should sell for about £450 on ebay. (But that was before we saw the quality of pictures it still produces).

So we got a cheap film from the chemist (own brand) I took a few shots, then gave it to the owner to see what she could do. All the shots I took were rubish (I had not locked the lens in place, just pulled it out). But after a short time my Neighbour was back into the swing of using it.
The rangefinder, shutter and everything seem to work just fine, so we fininshed the film, had it developed at the local supermarket and some of the results are below, and yes I am that red.
