Pine Siskin

Eden, Utah

Upon close examination this is a really sad picture. I first noticed this bird about 10 feet from me sitting on the feeder. I was amazed it let me get so close and moved in closer. I finally was right up on it and was able to actually even reach out and stroke it's breast with my finger, wow! Then I went inside, grabbed the camera and fired off about a dozen frames. While processing them I noticed a really sad thing. This little fella has a fish hook in it's mouth and through it's tongue. He'll probably slowing starve to death. I just wish I had noticed it at first. I would have tried to grab it so we could cut the hook out.
