Good times and sad times

Woodbridge, Suffolk

This picture was taken on 9th April 2016 in Suffolk at one of many enjoyable PBase gatherings. It features Brian Samuel on the left, me in the middle and Chris Morton on the right. Some of you may have noticed that there has been no activity from Chris Morton recently. I have just spoken to Chris’s wife, Susan, and the sad news is that Chris died on 22nd August from a medical condition, aged 79. I met up with Chris many times and it was always a pleasure – he was such a character. I always appreciated his comments – often quite acidic but always perceptive, always interesting and so often amusing as he had a nack of hitting the nail on the head. PBase will be a poorer place without him. Susan stated that Chris really appreciated PBase and the people he knew on it and it was a great help for him to have such an interest, particularly more recently with his health deteriorating.

Rest in peace, Chris.

I've just come across this - this is very sad indeed. Like you John, I met Chris many times on our outings and enjoyed hearing his take on life. He was a discerning photographer who took his time and always found a new and different angle on things....we'll miss him.

John, Good times and sad times indeed.
Thank you so much for passing along the sad news. That cannot have been easy. I know that many of us will have very fond memories of Chris during our photographic meet-ups, usually with tales to tell about what Chris got up to. Wherever he is now, I hope that he is still up to his tricks. I'm very sad that when we do resume our meets we will be one less.

I am very saddened to hear this news. I did not know him well but out paths crossed from time to time. An excellent tribute to him, John. You just never know when your times up!...

That is very sad news, I had missed him as he was one of only a few who commented on my images. I only ever met him once when we had the mini PBase meet up in Hereford on 26th January 2013.

Very sad new ! We used to exchange comments on our images and I liked the way he photographed his surroundings. All our sympathies to his family.

Oh my, I'm so very sad to hear this. Chris was a great person and good photographer, and I'll surely miss him, as will all his Pbase friends.
