Some black and white photos I took during my trip to Fogo and Santo Antao islands (Cabo Verde, october 1999).
Fogo is an almost round-shaped volcanic island (Pico Caldeiras, 2700 m, and and Pico de Fogo, 2800 m) surrounded by the furious Atlantic' surge which contrasts to black rocks and sand.
Santo Antao is an amazing island divided in a very dry part and and a a more luxurious part separated by an high mountain barrier. Courageous people fish in very rough sea conditions as well as inland they maintain almost hand-paved steepy roads crossing the island. I must say that I had pleasent time with friendly people living there despite the fact I didn't spoke portuguese.
