The Taos Pueblo (Pueblo de Taos) located at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range in New Mexico is the oldest continuously inhabited community in the United States. People have lived here for over 1000 years and the two main structures were constructed between 1000 and 1450 A.D. Currently, approximately 150 people live within the pueblo full-time. It has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (1992).
