Waterton Lakes National Park in the southwest corner of Alberta, Canada, was created in 1895 as the fourth Canadian national Park. The park is situated in the Canadian Rocky Mountains along the border between Canada and the United States. Directly across the border in the US is Glacier National Park, and the two parks combined make up the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, designated as a World Heritage Site in 1995.

The park is made up of stunning mountain vistas, which are complemented by the beautiful Waterton Lakes. I made it a point to get to the park early enough to see the sunlight paint the mountains and the clouds above, as well as the Prince of Wales Lodge which overlooks Upper Waterton Lake. Our group also took a boat trip on Upper Waterton Lake, which actually sailed across the international boundary into the United States and Glacier National Park.
