Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore – Michigan

The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore mainland is highlighted by the views from the Pierce-Stocking Scenic Drive. Multiple stops highlight the dunes as well as the clear blue and aqua waters of Lake Michigan. There are also two historic areas to visit, the Glen Haven Village as well as the Port Oneida Rural District.

I stumbled upon a marsh area on the banks of Narada Lake where I found abundant plant life and a Great Blue Heron stalking its dinner, and was also escorted through the park by Houston friends Melanie and Randy who guided us up the trail to the Empire Bluffs for spectacular views of the surrounding area.
